On-shore Wind Turbine Risks REF: 801

Should large wind turbines be located in urban areas?

This study was the latest in a series undertaken by RPA in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012 with particular attention being given to the risks associated with ice formation. With regards to ice-formation, the effectiveness of de-icing technologies installed in wind turbines was assessed. In these studies, past accidents across Europe were reviewed in order to use a risk assessment approach.
