RPA managed the development of a methodology to assess the potential socio-economic impacts (both positive and negative) of Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters wave and tidal developments, covering both bottom-up and top-down assessments of socio-economic benefits and negative impacts.

The study included trials with developers and revisions of the draft methodology to ensure that the methodology reflects information availability, that standardised assumptions are used where necessary and categories of benefit are applicable.  A spreadsheet and guidance were developed to assist developers using the methodology (with ABPmer).
