Over 15 years ago, the United Nations signed the United Nations Millennium Declaration, which established eight international development goals to be achieved by the year 2015, known collectively as the Millennium Development Goals or MDGs.  Since the declaration, progress towards these goals has been uneven and the world continues to face many challenges to sustainable development.  Billions continue to live in poverty and are deprived of basic necessities.  Income disparities across the globe are increasing.  Natural resources are being steadily depleted leading to increased environmental degradation and risk of climate change.  Health threats and humanitarian disasters are threatening to reverse development progress made in recent decades (e.g. Ebola in West Africa).  These are but a few of the many challenges that necessitate a coordinated and effective response by governments, NGOs and multilateral organisations alike.

Our team has experience in carrying out projects for various international organisations including UN agencies (UNICEF, UNIDO, UNEP, UNDP, WFP), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the OECD, the EU Commission, the Department for International Development (DFID) and International NGOs.  More recently, RPA was sub-contracted to work on two projects focusing on the Child Protection Fund in Zimbabwe, which was set up to deliver the objectives of Government’s National Action Plan (NAP II) for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs).  During these projects, RPA undertook cost benefit analysis of the Harmonised Social Cash Transfer component of the Child Protection Fund and assisted in the development of a successor plan to the NAP II.
