This study consisted of the revision and updating of the flood and coastal erosion risk management guidance. Focus was on improving the quality of economic appraisals by increasing consideration of environmental and social issues through partnership working with communities, businesses, utilities, etc.
The revision uses new best practice approaches including ecosystem services, Appraisal Summary Tables (ASTs) to allow disaggregation of benefits, and scoring and weighting to bring all impacts into decision-making.
